Hi, I’m Patricia Akao – your go-to IB Math tutor.
Math isn’t just what I teach – it’s what I love. Over the years, I’ve helped students not only raise their grades, but truly understand the “why” behind the numbers. Because when things start making sense, confidence follows.
My background might surprise you – I’ve studied everything from biological physics to business. With a B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. across science and environmental fields, I bring a unique perspective that helps me see patterns others miss and explain concepts in fresh, simple ways.
I’m a big believer in curiosity, creativity, and making learning feel doable. Whether you’re aiming high or just want math to feel a little less scary – I’ve got your back.

Most of my students actually prefer it — no travel, full focus, and everything is recorded for review.

Many students begin early in the IB program to build a strong foundation and avoid stress later on.
Others start in the second year, when the workload increases and exam preparation becomes more demanding.
Starting around six months before exams is also very effective, as it allows enough time to review content, strengthen weak areas, and practise past papers.
Beginning too close to the exams often makes it harder to achieve meaningful results because there’s limited time for proper learning and improvement.

- The classes are held using Zoom and Goodnotes app, the last one works as a real-time whiteboard. All the notes can be accessed at any time after class
- Usually, I prefer to work with the student during the whole semester, this allows me to know them better and personalize the classes
